Roma snared Zaniolo last summer as part of a part-exchange deal which saw Radja Nainggolan go in the opposite direction.
And his performances at the Stadio Olimpico have turned heads of Tottenham scouts who have advised Daniel Levy and co. to move for him.
La Gazzetta dello Sport claim, however, that Arsenal will look to hijack the deal as revenge for Gunners target William Saliba potentially going to Spurs.

But the West Ham boss will have to go back to the drawing board after Valencia announced they have landed the striker.
Gomez is believed to be eager to try his arm in the Champions League – a tournament Valencia are playing in next season.

That would represent a huge loss for Barcelona, who agreed to hand over up to £142m when they signed Coutinho 18 months ago.
Coutinho was a fan-favourite prior to leaving Anfield and Jurgen Klopp is said to be eager to secure a reunion with the 27-year-old.

“I will not let people talk about Philippe and put him down because for one-and-a-half years we have said nothing.
“I won’t let them do that and all of us in Philippe’s camp will not let that happen because Barcelona have told us he is staying.”

And Solskjaer is keen to prise him away from his home country, particularly with doubts still surrounding the future of Paul Pogba.
Local newspaper Correio da Manha, though, claim Woodward is not convinced about paying more than £50m for Fernandes because of his lack of Champions League experience.
