Conspiracy theorist David Icke has claimed the US government

David Icke has claimed that 9/11 was triggered by the US government as an excuse to begin the war on terror.

Britain’s most famous conspiracy theorist told Daily Star Online exclusively about his new book, covering the tragic events of September 11.

He described how in 1997 an organisation was founded called the Project of the New American Century.

This think tank, Icke claims, was the main source of pressure for the war on terror.

“There were many other people who would become part of the Bush administration at the start of 2001, they started this organisation in 1997 to campaign and press for a series of regime changes in the Middle East.

“In September 2000, they produced a document which listed the regime changes they wanted.

“They were Iraq, Iran, Libya, Syria, Lebanon and North Korea, leading to regime change in China.”

Icke went on: “They produced that document in September 2000, calling for American troops to fight ‘multiple theatre wars’ in the Middle East for regime change in these countries.

“They also said that this process of transformation, as they described, would necessarily be slow, absent of some catastrophic event and catalysing event — like a new Pearl Harbour.

“One year after that document was published, and nine months after the people that wrote it came to power with George Bush in the Pentagon, America had the Pearl Harbour of the 21st century.”

Icke claimed the US has used the shocking events of September 11 to start “picking off” the countries on the list, bringing about regime change in Iraq and Libya.

“They’ve used it to justify a war on terrorism which was a war of terrorism,” Icke said.

The former sports broadcaster turned conspiracist said 9/11 has also been used as an excuse for clamping down on individual freedoms.

“They have used it to justify deleting more and more civil liberties and justifying surveillance,” he said.

Icke, 67, has long argued that Building 7 (WTC 7) was brought down in a controlled blast on September 11.

This week, he claimed a shock 9/11 report exposes the third tower “demolition cover-up” .

David Icke’s new book The Trigger aims to expose “the lie” behind September 11.
